@Clumpy:
Yeah, same as with Dilbert. I haven't read a decent strip for at least five years. It's a bit sad, since the strips seem only to be reused. There has hardly been a original idea for quite a long time.

I thank you for introducing me to PBS, and "Sgt. Piggy's" is one of the better comic strip books that I own. That said, PBS has had some pretty lazy punchlines for years (not that it's the only strip to do that, *cough*). Those dem crocodiles only have one punchline, and the hundred or so strips with them have been mostly retreads of the same joke.

Just read Drowlord's comments: "I don't like most comics strips. Sure, I've liked the occassional comic from many of the long-running series, but in general, I find most comics pretty dumb. Pearls Before Swine definitely falls into the "dumb and not funny" bucket by my reckoning."

Dude, you are spot on. I make a conscious effort to avoid reading most comics because they usually just make me upset. (See "Cathy"; "Beetle Bailey"; et al.)

I have the same thought every time I deviate from my reading standards: "Are you freaking kidding me? How the crap did this person get syndicated?"

Three things:

1. PBS: That's about as funny as the stupid friend/relative who does the freakin Ricky Ricardo impression over and over.

2. I'm not a daily reader, but I do like Rita Mae. What did I miss? Are you no longer going to access the Internet? Or are you just foregoing posts? What's this whole leaving thing?

3. I hate the friggin numbered pages. I want all posts on one page so I can just scroll down. I hate having them broken up into pages. I want to see the sequence in one swoop.

Pearls Before Swine is always good, but the funniest comic yesterday was Bizarro (particularly if you believe beliefs are retarded, and I do believe that).

Hey! This one was good. From PBS, I also liked the "Mrs. Butterworth" subplot, among other things.
@ Anon. A. Mus: the one from the 13th was good too.

I think this one's my favorite, though:

The only comics I've consistently liked were Calvin & Hobbes, Dilbert, and Foxtrot. Of the three in syndication, Dilbert is the last man standing. I'll add Basic Instructions to that list, too. It's not syndicated, but I agree with you. It's great.

I like Dilbert better. There is no comparison. Math sucks. I never could count. That's why I had nine pregnancies in eleven years.

In high school I got D's in Alegbra and Geometry and A's and A 's in everything else. Good thing I married the ex-Marine. He counts all our money and gives me a dollar or so a day to spend all on myself.

I start training the new girl on Monday. Hope she catches on fast. She has two weeks (10 days) to learn all I know. PENIS. There. That would take me only a nano second. It's going to be sooooo hard to be a good girl and not a smart-ass when I am training her. I will want to tell her which of the CPAs to avoid and which ones are okay. But being a professional, all I will be able to say is --- PENIS. Maybe I could tell her I have Tourette Syndrome and she will feel sorry for me every time I shake my head and mutter !$%*!$%

Have a nice weekend folks. I'm outta here.

Scott,

Are you being ironic? I didn't find this funny at all. Not even remotely amused, and I'm an easy target for a laugh.

There is a slight element of truth here in that an educational degree, in my opinion, is pretty much a joke. But the joke, like this strip, doesn't seem very funny to me.

I took one education class in my undergrad degree. I went to the first class and thought it was ridiculous. I came back only for the mid-term and the final, didn't read any of the materials and got an A in the class. I actually was offended that the professor didn't either flunk me, or at least have the dignity to give me a C or something.

It was a waste of the 3 hours I spent showing up that semester. I would have learned more by washing my car.

We wonder why education in America sucks? That's why.

If you would be willing to elaborate - maybe tell us why you thought this was funny? I love Dilbert - and clearly your sense of funny / not funny is better than mine... I honestly would like to hear your take on this one.
