Scott,
I know nothing about you personally, nor your political views, I was made aware of this controversy by a poster on a political forum I frequent. You made the statement 'The context for that prediction is the notion that a future Einstein might someday demonstrate that our common sense understanding of the passage of time is flawed.'

I would suggest such an Einstein is in our midst already, and such a demonstration has already occurred. Check out 'My Big Toe' by Thomas Campbell.

i don't understand why what happened was 'news'. i have long felt that ( i feel it, in my spirit) the media was out of synch with what is news, what is information and what is gossip, and what is promotional material. this would have ranked with a marketing scheme in my book. if i were an editor and someone said 'what page for this story' i'd put it in marketing schemes with donald trump running for presdient, you having an online alias , but then only writing to yourself which i would call situational narcisssim in the most pathetic case because you don't even have to go anywhere you can do this in the toilet, and youtube's ability to let people post video responses to video's.
so, if anyone gets this far into the commets, this is not news, this is infotainment gossip for marketing purposes. i'd really like to know, news wise, if someone is going to take the price of gas and cut it in half or make car's free and the caveat is that you have to fill them up at the dealerships because they'd make more money giving cars away and selling gas for them then they do selling cars. and the hybrids arent cheaper, my car is paid for, how is buying a car cheaper than owning one???which is also a marketing ploy news story seeeee.e.e.e....

Does anyone else find it incredibly ironic, that it is essentially a group of anonymous people, criticizing someone for being anonymous? That's both the beauty and danger of the internet, anonymity.

It's hard to take seriously the moral high ground taken by people such as 'malignor', 'JoBlo' or 'rjl20' on this issue as they hide behind a veil. I'm sure we can all trust each of those names, and completely trust the fact that they are reasonable people.

Truth is, aside from Scott and some of the MetaFilter mods, everyone on here is anonymous and as such we have no reason to believe anything you (or I) have to say. I'm probably being too cynical though, you are all reasonable, it's everyone else who doesn't understand how wrong they are...

"Democrats and advocates of civil rights are using the media to further an agenda at the expense of a woman who was probably so non-racist that the photo in question didn't set off her alarms as being a career-ending risk. "

You really believe that? For someone who is as smart as you, you should know better. I guess brains and sensitivity have no correlation what-so-ever. To think that showing Bush as a monkey and Obama as a monkey are equivalent shows how tone deaf you are. How can you not see that in the case of Bush it was a personal affront while in the case of Obama it is not only that but also an affront to all African-Americans? You seriously cannot infer this on your own?

[You have hallucinated a viewpoint that I don't hold and successfully proven that it is stupid. If you would like to take a run at anything I actually said or think, I'm here for you. Take as many tries as you need. -- Scott]

It was all funny for ME! You might not have noticed, but some folks who post at the Von Mises Institute were delighted that you picked Planned Chaos as your handle.
I'm not sure if anyone else has made this comment yet since I didn't read all of them yet, but c'mon Scott enough is enough. We all know that every supportive and positive comment posted here is really just you defending and supporting yourself anonymously. Geez, do you think we are all dunderheads? By the way, I heard rumors that you are anti-science and that you like spanx, is that true? Also I saw the word "vigilante" in the above blog. I'm not going to bother with the context, I will just assume you are anti-law.

I very rarely weigh in on blogs or BBS. I have generally found them to be a bit aggressive and silly, usually written by folks hiding behind alter-egos. Isn't that the point of a screen name? Further, I've never found your comic particularly relevant to me (I have always been outside...never NEVER in a cubicle). Having said so, I feel compelled to say I will henceforth keep myself better apprised of your activities. You are a hoot. I'm shocked to learn that MetaFilter, of which I have never heard, would concern itself with the identity of one of its "community," simply for responding to older posts. What is the point of a BBS, or community if they prefer, if a member cannot say what they will? Excluding of course profanity or overtly incendiary commentary designed merely to offend. These people use screen names for a reason: so no one knows who and where they are. It doesn't bother me that you used a fictional third party to defend yourself. I am much more concerned with MetaFilter's intrusion, especially given that they would be the first ones to cry "First Amendment foul" if it suited them.

Scott, the only money I have contributed to you was when I bought The Religion War and God's Debris (yes, I know now it's a free PDF online. I am not part of Mensa). But for what's it's worth, I am a huge fan. This whole Planned Chaos issue just makes you more likable to me. But hey, I'm a tad more immoral than Spanx wearers. I'm right up there with people who covertly bring their own snacks into movie theaters via a large purse. So that must explain my fondness of you and your writing. Or maybe I just like to read things that challenge me to think a little deeper than the blandness that is offered by the media and by most people I encounter each day. In any case, good job and keep it up. :)

I am truly impressed by the scope, and rampant spread of this 'news item' on the internet. You have hit the Yahoo front page.

Does this allow you to apply for your journalist credentials now? Can you attend sporting events as a 'reporter'? I smell free superbowl tickets!

If you really play your cards right, you might be eligible for a pulitzer for an expose on yourself. If you bring back the dilbert show, you could get an emmy. Sort of the media trifecta. Best seller, pulitzer, emmy winner...

I sense big opportunity here. Perhaps you should join the birther band wagon and go global with the scoop...
