I used to do this when I was young because I lived at my parents' home or an apartment so the only place I could crank my music was my car, and I'm certainly not going to close my windows and avoid warm summer air just because someone would rather hear traffic noise. Now, my car is worth more than my car stereo and it sounds terrible compared to my home system so I usually don't even bother listening to music while driving unless I'm on the highway.
I work in a shop right next to a bank. We get bogans (aka people that drive around like idiots in old cars that they've done up to look incredibly stupid) pull up outside and turn up their music (incredibly bassy music which they pump out of subs they've put into the car) so they can hear it while they're getting money from the ATM.
It's very hard to fight the urge to hop in their car (what with the engine usually being left on) and drive it into a lake.
