Dear Toaster,
the fact you do not encounter performance issues with the site does not mean that the experience is the same for everybody.
On my configuration, I have to wait roughly five seconds between each reload to see the flash strip appear, while the remaining of the page is fully loaded. I usually do not see that many performances issues with flash, which seems to hint that the flash controls used by the website are particularly heavyweight.
While five seconds is not such a big deal, it is also totally unecessary: the links to the mashups, the controls to vote or to browse the history could have been done just as well in plain HTML/Javascript. Or even, the controls could have been kept in flash, but with the main strip displayed as an image. It would have probably helped with performance.
To me, it seems the only real value added by embedding the comic in flash is, as you noticed, the ability to scroll it on sundays.

Seriously guys, the complaining is pretty excessive by now...The site is fine, it loads in 0.829 seconds for me. I see no flash animation problems, or a lot of ads...in fact, I don't see any ads. Where are these ads...unless of course you are referring to the ads which are advertising Dilbert itself, in which case I fail to see a problem with that. The new site is fine, and the design is pretty sleek. The only complaint I have is that Sunday strips now require scrolling to be fully viewed. However, I like that I can read daily Dilbert strips in color. Also, for those of you who somehow can't find the comic STRIP archives...try clicking the word "strips" at the top of the page. It baffles me that you guys are so close-minded that a web design change immediately causes an uproar. To be honest, the old site was pretty plain, this one looks like it's going to be great (not that it isn't already, just still in BETA). Oh well, everyone is entitled to their own opinion and this is mine.

About the strip itself, classic CEO uselessness strip, still good.

Great strip, and wonderful new site! There's no sense in so much blathering about quality (of the new site design)...

At least we can still take screen shots to get a reasonably decent resolution image locally. I'm sure they are working on technology to prevent that too. Is the new site a sign that Dilbert has finally jumped the shark?

Another minor irritation about the new site design.... The comic appears briefly, then disappears until all the flash (or whatever) code is loaded. Annoying.
