Of course, you can also use this technique to your advantage. Make the slide look like there's a clearcut direction to take (i.e. your preferred direction) and bury all those pesky, doubt-creating technicalities in a long-winded report. It's like a magician's conjuring trick. For further details, watch "Yes, Minister" and pay attention to Sir Humphrey...
