we have such a ghost at work too... rumors say he was fired for either being too friendly or being too honest

It's not so much a comparison of kindness as it is a comparison of every function of your job and personality. The ghost is a constant yardstick that you must attempt to match. You know the feeling of running down a long hallway and the faster you run, the faster your destination shrinks in the distance. It's kinda like that. When I was hired I was introduced to people as *Blanks* replacement. I know the feeling.
