A cartel, as a single entity, invested in the company. "They" refers to the people in the cartel.

How come in frame one, PHB mentions a single investor, yet in the remaining two frames, he speaks of multiple investors? This one is twisting my tiny brain into a knot - mind you, apparently, a very SMALL knot.
