You know, there's a very good book I've read which is about something very similar to the Peter Principle. It's called the Dilbert Principle, you should try it. I can't remember who it's by though... :)
I see that he is using the George W Bush style of management. Make a bad decision and hide until the situation is over. Or an Ostrich I get the two confused. The problem is that most bosses do not get fired they just start lying off employees until there is enough money to fix it. This is the Peter principal in full effect.
