I agree with nine_days. Frame 1 I am all too familiar with in my job; frame 2, though, just doesn't make any sense. Buggy software can still be useful. Usefulness is not related to the number of bugs. So I can't appreciate the intended humour. This is the first strip that has annoyed me enough to comment it.
EdgarAllenPwn, I know it's a comic and therefore not to be taken seriously but the website has a thumbs up/down rating system and a comments section for us to discuss our opinions in. What would you rather we did?
@ nomadwolf:
Since when has software EVER been completely bug free?
Unless you like to call them "bonus features", in that case; don't you hate it when a favorite exploit (bug) gets "fixed" and makes the software useless? lol (For me, Roxio CD Creator comes to mind...) hahaha
I love this strip because it generates an interesting discussion.
There are know bugs that a software can live with. If it's a low priority bug and if the effort to fix them will significantly exceed the budget or deadline, it's more logical not to fix them.
The point Dilbert's premise is wrong, the strip is not that funny.
"You assume too much" Dilbert is giving a list showing 100% of the KNOWN bugs, not 100% of the total bugs. You have to take it that the bugs he is bringing up are critical to operation, but there still may be more. It's a comic. Get over yourselves.
