@ mbh "Ironically, given that 25,000,000 styrofoam cups go into landfills every year, makes up 25% of our landfill space "
Shall we do the math? A Styrofoam cup weighs 2.1g and takes up a volume of 200ml. Assume that the cups are incredibly strong and don't crush down. 25million cups will take up 5000 cubic metres and weigh 52500 tonne. (that is metric tonnes)
Total US waste to landfill 2005 was 120million tonne. Assume that this waste is as dense as iron. Total volume pa = approx 17million cubic metres. So total volume in the waste stream is 0.029% not 25%
Wow Scott, seems very... um... out of character for a ""Libertarian, minus the crazy stuff". Look at the amount of "crazies" cheering you on for this strip and tell me it isn't so.
There is no Global Warming, of course, we dreamed up the whole thing. And if you believe that, I have a bridge to sell you...
@ RyanL:
You are absolutely correct on this one. Thumbs up from me.
Reduce, Reuse, Recycle is the mantra of the "Greenies", but few are willing to actually be carbon neutral or zero-landfill. We like our modern conveniences too much. I know I do-
Now if I can figure out how to run my Desktop, TV and PS2 on gravitational acceleration alone... :-)
Oh, and also learn how to make all these modern things from Switchgrass and clay-- you would not believe all the harmful materials go into that cell phone on your hip!
I will sign this one,
