Scott doesn't color in the weekday strips. The chair is green for the same reason Wally's vest was green--it was colored in that way. Scott only colors in the Sunday strip unless something has changed recently. btw 5 stars, great commentary on feel-good environmentalism run amok. Just can't get anyone to let their guard down and say what they really think (unless you count Joe Biden) like the phb.

1) Dilbert lacks the perspective of Pointy Haired Boss... well, not anymore.

2) Unfortunately environmental protection movement does more harm than good.
For example, it asks people to sort their garbage (regular trash vs stuff for recycling). But nobody pays attention to the fact that it's extremely expensive thing to do.
Professional garbage sorters for $10/hour would sort garbage 10 to 100 times faster than people in housholds do.
Average hourly rate of people living in households is $20/hour .
So that environmental movement makes more expensive workers to do garbage sorting in extremely inefficient way.

oldschoolskater, your must have skipped basic math....Each year, if you consider the space that landfills take up, each year styrofoam cups take up 25% of that amount....and by the way, the statistics come from the Environmental Protection Agency (EPA)...

Roger_the_Intern, great point about earthenware - I use a ceramic coffee cup every day, but companies usually go to paper in mass, or corn-based bio-degradable plastics.

mbh, roger, olokschool . . . it really doesn't have anything to do with the actual environmental impact, does it?

Scott is exposing the commonly overlooked fact that most Prius drivers, reusable grocery bag carriers, free-range egg eaters, and "green-friendly" companies do it NOT for the cost savings or to save the world, but simply to maintain an appearance.

For most of these guys, it's just all about image.

In that light, I say 5 full stars for today's strip!
