@nimblehuman: reading history of the rise of fascism in the 1930s, seeing the parallel with our present times in America as evidenced by the approval ratings of some of the racist posts here *should* give you shivers...

Even WITHOUT the accent, when your name is Jameel (as is mine) and you are a tech support rep for an ISP, people accuse you of being in India even when you are in fact in York, PA...go figger! :P

/glad he doesn't do that for a living anymore

Precisely the response I got from C*****T. Got the adjustment when I advised person that while he may not have power, someone else does. Someone else, made things whole!

@Old_Fatihful : Some people don't like when you have an accent. I'm in customer service and I have an accent when I speak english because it's not my natural language (I speak otherwise nearly perfect english, though) For some people it's just too hard to get past, even though you are in the same country.

@jpozenel: The best customer service I have had, bar none, was dealing with HP's customer service in India. They were courteous, efficient and truly helpful. I am sorry to say that I cannot say the same thing of HP's people here in Canada, who botched up the repair that needed to be done.

So next time you profer disparaging remarks about other countries' record on customer service, present the facts to back them up.
