Eugenius, you are assuming that the satisfaction of dumb people isn't affected negatively by the presence of smart people, and also that none of the fired smart people are ever replaced.
What's fascinating is that in order to double the employee satisfaction rate simply by firing people, they had to lay off half of the workforce. Mathematically, that is the only way it works.
