Since he was actually a good salesman, all Ken has to do is quit and come back as a consultant. Then he can charge triple his current salary to tell them what he would have done.

To be fair, ALL the jobs that deal with humans variables (like motivation, taste, preferences etc) is very difficult to pin point a problem and even more to give an exact answer, since the human being if way more complex that any giving man made process, system or product, so yes lots of stuff that marketing are based on precedents, statistics, and psicology, which it isnt an exact science nor have "correct" answer, that involves doing stuff that are EXPECTED to work (like a comercial campaign, a new product that was liked in a focus group and such ) but for some reason , these being the complexity of humans, doesnt work. SO yes, it kind of involve guessing, but thats just the way is has to be done, there is no MATH MODEL that can simulate the human Psyche..

And yes , Im an engineer ( well in 3 more months I will be one )
