For all of non-engineer mentality, I'll translate an usual delegative request into approximate more simplistic terms:
" Could you please do X (being X a menial repetitive task that needs to be done just because I haven't figured how to skip it yet) to help me because am a bit overloaded/run out of time/need to focus on other priorities (my time has more worth than yours, can't be bothered to do this instead of that)?"
As a pure engineer with social skills approaching zero, Dilbert will eliminate the superfluos politeness knowing that the implied derogative is under there anyway.

I experienced the same thing recently.....was made to do all sorts of tedious work so that my manager can surf !$%* on his laptop while at work! :O
