Not for the same purpose, but we do stockpile several weeks worth of food for natural disasters.Our neighbors noticed and stopped stockpiling of their own.

I assume Alice will be bringing her own "defensive weaponry". Dillbert should double the food and water rations and count his blessings. He wouldn't know what weaponry to buy anyway.

The reason you never mention defensive preparations while telling everyone about your supplies is to get a constant supply of bodies to eat from ^^

My friends and I were once talking about what 1 item we would take with us if we were transported to an empty earthlike planet. I said a bag of wheat so I would be able to survive. My friend said he'd bring a gun to kill me.
