Sounds like the HDMI commitee. This thing supports a ton of different pixel formats (aka colorspaces), and both PC levels (black at zero) and TV levels (black at 6.25%). Plus a ton of different audio formats, some of them obscure like SACD or encrypted DVD-Audio.This is because representatives of the PC industry and the Consumer electronics industry sat around a table and started throwing features in HDMI, instead of comming to a common format.
