@9squirrels, I agree with you regarding creepiness but he's following his ex-wife's pattern. She would have said "you're out of mayo" as that points the finger of blame for lack of mayo firmly in his direction and makes it his responsibility to buy some mayo. "We're out mayo" would be too weak for her as it implies that the blame could be hers.

At the end he should have said "We're out of mayo" rather than "You're out of mayo". Much creepier. :)
