Surely in Wally's case that should be:
"The hallmark of genius is not doing things in a way that other people do"

There are an infinite number of things you could do every day that would be unexpected, but very few things that would be expected. Therefore, the vast majority of genius actions are unexpected... as well as the vast majority of asinine actions. Also, asinine actions vastly outnumber genius actions. Wally conveniently ignores the second part, for his own benefit. This, ironically, is actually a genius action.
