I was never an accomplice. I started as a patsy, then lateraled to stooge. It paid the same but I got a bigger cube.

Three summers ago when I was looking for a job, about one in three job interviews involved someone asking me how my search engine optimization skills were. I always replied that I have written and administered a ton of websites with public content tools, and I had spend too much of my time as an administrator actively deleting posts made by "search engine optimizers" who kept trying to highjack message forums by spamming any tool that allowed user generated content. As a programmer, I had to introduce increasingly restrictive "user registration" and "content verification" checks. I found the career of "optimization" to be unethical and questioned whether it would be legal in the near future. I didn't get a lot of interest from those employers.
