That's been our mantra for some time "a sense of urgency". I wasn't sure what it meant until Mr. Adams conveyed it so well in today's strip. Now all I need to do is frame it, hang it in my cubicle and point to it any time someone utters the phrase.
The PHB's range of responses reminds me of a former PHB of mine -- he would veer from clueless unconcern to hair-on-fire panic. What made it worse was that he shrugged off the urgent issues and obsessed on little details that hardly mattered to us or our clients. To be fair, it was a winning strategy. A unit-wide audit identified him as an ineffective idiot so the unit director took away his responsibilities and gave him a promotion. That made sense as they were cut from the same cheap, ugly, itchy, scratchy cloth.
