My boss (in the research lab where I worked) was one step higher. He was (nominally) a nuclear physicist, but, by virtue of being boss, he knew everything. In his own words, he needed just five minutes to understand everything about a Nobel-prize winning work in biochemistry. he was also a science philosopher, expert on Hindu scriptures and mythology, folklore, ethics, art, music, history, etc.
The "Boss Knows Everything" syndrome pervades every sphere of human activity here. Making a big jump right to the top of the hierarchy, the late Morarji Desai, one time Prime Minister used give his expert advice on a variety of subjects, like health, medicine, nutrition, and how to shave oneself without using soap or lather.
