Reminds me of the time I was an engineering manager and the lone Anglo in a US division of a Chinese company. My boss wanted to bring a guy over from China who was a "genius" but "misunderstood". I and one of my engineers sat in on a conference call with my boss and the boss in China. I didn't understand a word of the conversation (in Mandarin), but after the whole disaster was over my guy revealed to me that the China boss had said the "genius" was terrible. We never got a bit of work out of him.
