I get the impression that Dilbert has been talking a lot to Wally in the break room these days. His sarcasm gets to express itself just short of being fired on the spot. Brilliant....

@EStz - it (3rd world workers) starts out as bad as you describe. But as soon as enough companies are doing it, the supply of workers starts to get cramped, and employers have to offer tiny wage increases or inexpensive benefits. After a few decades, the formerly 3rd world workers are too expensive to work with overseas, and companies move on to another poor country. See India and China (manufacturing is starting to move out of China as wages have gotten higher and there are more pollution regulations). This is good.

It does tend to stay bad when there is some abusive government confiscating any increased earnings.

On the plus side, the layoffs mean Dilbert gets to keep a visitor chair in his office full time no sharing.

@ ewood

Yes, you're right. These guys work 16 hours a day just für bed and breakfast. And I mean "bed and breakfast", not for a living, not for a house, not for putting their kids to school.

That's why big companies transfer jobs to third world, let workers ruin their health (if one fails for health trouble, he can easily be replaced), let children "help" their families to survive, and if union is making trouble for some stupid reason, they got beaten up, arrested or even shot.

Yes, you're right. American and European workers should just shut up.

PHB should have known – it never goes the way he hopes.
