@lmalinofsky - China is going the way of India and is not so cheap anymore, and rapidly becoming less so as the government adds regulations. However, there is always Elbonia - which represents any poor country moving up in the world.
Adams hits the nail on the head with this one. Companies hesitate to hire when work load goes up, but have no problem piling more work on existing employees. Multitasking is fast becoming a four letter word.
Sounds like my former manager's Root Cause Analysis at IBM. We were supposed to have 5 days to do an RCA through IBM policy but, our manager gave us less than a day to do one. NO OVERTIME, manually patching hundreds of servers now leaves only 1 or 2 people during the daytime to handle trouble tickets for 4 accounts; one being a major military account.
