My own PHB suffered from something much worse. Once he came into my lab and asked the peon (he was officially not called peon, but a lab attendant!), an illiterate fellow, that he should daily take down all the reagent bottles from the shelves, dust and wipe them with a damp cloth, and then put back. I did have the courage to tell the boss to get out and stay out.
