I gotta say Scott, this is hilarious. I especially love how you took a jab at all the feminists who gave you a lot of BS a year or two ago because they took one of your quotes out of context.

Overall, the world really isn't fond of context. The media especially hates context because it usually ends up ruining the story.

I worked for a company in which all employees were assigned one book a month from the "Successful Employee/Manager" genre. Each book seemed to contradict the one before it, and each book was touted in its month in the limelight as absolute truth by upper management. I began to be amazed at how easily the "truth" can shift and change in as little as 30 days.
Frankly, if I had ever read one that WAS the truth, I wouldn't have recognized that truth after months of bombardment with the "newest truth."

Dilbert reminds me every day that, even though I am hurting financially because I had to take an early retirement (due to a layoff and no jobs in CA for older workers), I am happy because I don't have to deal with crazy bosses.

I used to have a boss who would say she had read or heard thus-and-such about managing or employees or whatever. Dum-dee-dum-dum. No amount of techniques will work if you don't understand the reason for them and and they don't come naturally.
