This made a lot more sense 20 years ago. Today, when there's a planned outage, we are all required to take our laptops home and telecommute the next day. Same goes for "snow days" and other things that used to give us a free day off.

The more I think about it, the more I hate the invention of small portable computers....

Where I work we have a datacenter in the same building. When the power goes out (scheduled or not), we just switch over to generator power and keep working.

Will there be flashlights provided? How can the CEO see them if the lights are off due to the power outage? If they have door security that uses badges, how will they get it?
