At your age most of your information was created on paper forms, filed, archived and shredded. Even the punch cards and tapes. You probably have the electronic trail of a kid. Consider it a reason to feel young all over again.

Mikhal, while privacy rights aren't at issue, human rights can be. It opens up a can of worms if you do an internet search for a candidate and discover that they're active in a particular religious group, for example.

It is prudent to create a wall between the data-miner and the final decision-maker: The data-miner needs to filter out information that deals with prohibited grounds of discrimination, before sending a written report to the decision-maker. That insulates the organization against claims that the decision involved unlawful discrimination.
