Oh, but there are online stores where you add an item to your shopping basket and then go to checkout and find that you also have a warranty extension and membership fee for 1 year in the premier customer club in the basket. That's why I never use 1-click checkout.

I much prefer to shop online. Salespeople are pushy by necessity. Siri and her online children are much more pleasant.

I thought the sales person's main job is to promise you compatibility with anything you ask about, only to claim later that you misheard him.

I'm surprised Dilbert entered the store in the first place, and if he did, that he didn't already know what edition he wanted and checked whether the store had any in stock.

At least that's the way I shop. I research everything on-line. I only go to a physical store if it has the best price (rarely) or if I need the item immediately and can't wait for delivery. And when I do go, I check the in-stock status on the store's web site. This comic's conversation never happens.

If that's what it takes for the sales guy to keep coming back to his miserable, low-pay job, he's in pretty bad shape. I'm surprised Dilbert got as much work out of him as he did. And I'll bet there are a dozen deluxe versions in the back. But why be that helpful when you can chase off the irritating person that's keeping you from your next smoke break?
