Neverending story - guessing, how long time will project take. Manager wants it last shorter time to gain bonus no matter what it takes, on the opposite men who really work on project knows it is longer, but their bonus depends on bonus of manager. Which is a pity... I hope there will come a day when manager's bonus will depend not only on productivity but also on working people's satisfaction :)

You are not correct here. "Average" is an umbrella term; median is one kind of average. It is impossible to say that "average is below or above median" mathematically. Gatryal was too unspecific but not wrong. He could very well and without any taint think of "median" when saying "average" while you automatically assume "arithmetic mean". Both are possible ways to calculate an average.

Except your test is mathematically wrong: 50% of people are below MEDIAN intelligence. The average intelligence can be below or above the median...

A Dilbert dilemma; how to subtly insult someone enough to drive them away feeling uncomfortable, while not getting canned for insubordination.

@GrimCW Like Scotty, I routinely tripled my guess on time requirements. Even to my one good boss. After all, she needed a number for the idiots above her.

This strip somehow reminding me of how I first developed my acid test for stupid people. Mention that it's amazing how 50% of people are below average intelligence, and if they disagree with you, then there you go.

Feel free to use it friends.
