There is a conversation in a big corporation that I imagined went down like this...

Microsoft Manager: "ship every x-box one with a kinect"
Employee: "kinect is a gimmick, most gamers want a console that plays games not runs gimmicks"
Manager: "We want our developers to be happy, they need to know every gamer will have this. Oh and it must ALWAYS be on"
Employee: "Doesn't that impose potential moral and legal issues?"
Manager: "Who cares? as long as we and the developers are happy"

Of course anybody that watched the whole X-Box one official announcement on those issues know how badly they were received and how much of a PR disaster those ideas were.

One of the big truthes of life.

Companies tried to make themthelve happy, not the customers.

By the way, it's the same in opposite direction: Customers tried to make themthelves happy, not any company.

What is pity is that Scott has truth. International companies acts exactly like this. They produce middle stream crap and under great pressure of marketing they sell millions of it. Customer's opinion is not taken on account. But to be honest, it's our - I mean customer's - fault. We needn't buy it ... Think twice before you spent a penny. Even if you can afford it. And this will change.
